Good morning everyone….This may be of interest to many of you….

Greetings fellow NY Radio and Television Engineers! I just wanted to remind everybody of the upcoming IEEE Broadcast Technology Society Symposium to be held in Hartford, CT on October 12-14th ,this is a Wednesday through Friday event.

This symposium is a great opportunity to get some exposure to some really high end sessions. Structured as a tutorial day on Wednesday, and then white papers on Thursday and Friday, there is always ground breaking material delivered for the first time. We have some amazing industry leaders scheduled to speak, including many of the principle authors of new SMPTE and AES Standards. This is a chance to interact with some of the people who are involved at the ground level of developing standards. Topics like HD Radio, PPM Encoding, ATSC 3.0 and of course the TV repack as it relates to both radio and TV will be discussed.

We have a manufacturer’s reception, and two luncheons , with keynote speakers. Also we have a whole contingent of sponsors with displays who have committed to being there this year.

Please note that along with myself, Paul Donovan and Glyn Walden, Tom Silliman, along with David Layer, and Skip Pizzi from NAB will also be in attendance, so we will have a pretty good radio contingency.

Because we are located so close by, it is a real treat to be able to just drive to this event, so there is no good excuse for missing this! This prestigious but not highly publicized event has been going on for more than 65 years, and has been traditionally held in Washington DC, but never has it been hosted in the Northeast. This is the very first time!

Please consider coming, even if just for a day, check out the technical program:

Registration for this event can be found here:

Try and take a day or two and get some fresh air. You won’t regret it, and just might make some great contacts!

Best,

Paul
