Win Lloyd always was a gentleman, who went above and beyond for many people, even those he really didn't know.

When I called Cousin Brucie (during his air shift) about looking for a job, the engineer running the board said to contact Win.  When I visited Win during my spring break, all of the summer Vacation Relief jobs were already spoken for.  BUT, he had gone "above and beyond" and set up interviews for me at Network Radio, TV Tech Records, and TV Maintenance.  How many people would do that these days?
Ironically (and maybe not so coincidentally) I now sit one block north and probably less than 200 feet from where I had that first meeting with Win.

Rest in peace, Win!  If not for your kindness almost 40 years ago, I probably wouldn't have spent most of my career at ABC.

Regards,

I’m re-sending this just in case it didn’t make it through the yahoo groups e-mail address. The younger guys won’t know who Win was, but we older guys knew Win as the CE at WABC radio through much of its hey-day. Originally from Louisiana , he was the consummate southern gentleman. He always said he wanted to “go home” when he retired, but I guess he never did. Family probably kept him in this area.

When Win retired, a plaque in his honor was placed on the tuning house at the WABC transmitter in Lodi . That was somewhat paradoxical, Win hated RF, being that his background was studio engineering. He appreciated the gesture none the less.
