After a courageous 16 month battle with Pancreatic Cancer, Steve Mendelsohn passed away this morning, a little past 6am. Chris Bauer and Jim Jackson were able to see Steve yesterday. Steve’s wife Heidi with was at his side this morning when he took his last breath. Jim Jackson is at the Mendelsohn house with the family today. I don’t think they are up for calls at this time.

As soon as there are details regarding any arrangements, I’ll pass it along. If you wish to send condolences to Heidi Mendelsohn, here is the mailing address:

Steve fought his cancer with all he hand and really appreciated the support and well wishes that his friends and family shared with him. Several months ago, Steve told me that he believed it really made a difference in his battle. Despite the cancer, Steve was able to make time for activities he was passionate about, including his work as an NFL Game Day Coordinator (he was the GDC for Jets games), and the many years of New York Marathon. He could come off as tough, but in reality Steve cared very much about the people he met throughout his life and treasured the relationships he built.

Please pass the word along to friends of Steve and Heidi Mendelsohn.

It is with a heavy heart I tell you Steve Mendelsohn passed this morning at 6AM Eastern. He passed with all the family at his side.

Steve was a long time Chapter 15 member and served as the GDC for the NY Jets. He passed after a brave fight with cancer.

I will let you know more as I know more.
