JOB DESCRIPTION:

Emmis New York seeks an experienced and knowledgeable broadcast engineer to support a complex

broadcast environment and provide a high level of service to all departments. Emmis Communications is a

leader in broadcast technology and constantly develops and applies new innovations in both traditional

terrestrial broadcast and emerging platforms.

This position is responsible for integration, maintenance, operation, and support of broadcast studio and

transmitter facilities, digital media production and distribution systems, and business information technology

in our New York cluster and reports to the Director of Integrated Technologies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· Support day to day operations of all radio broadcasting transmission, studio, digital media,

and IT facilities and equipment.

· Install, maintain, and troubleshoot to the component level solid-state FM and HD Radio

transmitters, combiners, and antenna systems.

· Maintain networked audio studio plant. Must have experience with large-scale routing

switcher systems and complex multi-station environments.

· Maintain, upgrade, and support broadcast Information Technology including playout

systems, digital production tools, and audio and video streaming.

· Support digital video and web production department. Familiarity with video production

equipment including routing, switching, and signal processing preferred.

· Troubleshoot and repair computer hardware and software, including network servers,

storage, network operating systems, PCs and PC applications, LAN cabling, system security

and virus protection. Advanced TCP/IP and networking knowledge required.

· Support telecommunications systems including business telephone switches, PRI, T1, ISDN,

VOIP, carrier Ethernet, and other telecommunications technology.

· Support and oversee maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC

and BMS controls, generators, transfer switches, fire suppression systems, security

systems, and other building systems.

· Have experience with or knowledge of Windows 2008 Server, MS-SQL and Exchange 2010 in

a complex LAN and WAN computing environment. Support network security, network rights,

naming standards, login scripts, and software upgrades.

· Work within a project management structure for broadcast, physical infrastructure, and

information technology projects. Create and maintain drawings, wiring documentation, and

system configuration documentation.

· Set up and perform remote broadcasts via various technologies including ISDN, IP, and

wireless.

· Maintain a positive work environment through active team participation and a good attitude

focused on quality customer service for both internal and external customers.

· Maintain knowledge and stay current on technological advances including computer

software and hardware, media and entertainment technologies, radio broadcasting and

workstation products.

· Have knowledge of and ability to verify compliance with FCC rules and regulations.

· Available to work various hours and days including some weekends, overnights, and

holidays. On-call status 24/7 in case of equipment failure.

· Maintain a clean and organized work area.

· Good verbal and written communications skills.

· Have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces such as

rooftops, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components, and

perform other physical tasks related to electronic and plant maintenance.

· Other duties as directed.
