OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

WFUV, NEW YORK

WFUV seeks an operations director to support New York City's Triple A music discovery radio service.  Supports day to day operations of all radio broadcasting transmission, studio, digital media, and IT facilities and equipment.

 

Prepares and maintains daily automation schedules, logs and playlists for all three of WFUV’s channels, coordinating with Traffic, Music and Programming as needed. Manages recording of local programs for automation, editing when necessary and maintaining high standards and strict quality control. Supervises the proper recording, ingestion, broadcast and archiving of both local and syndicated programs. Manages WFUV’s online archives, including recording, editing, uploading, labeling and organizing programs.  Assists with maintaining WFUV’s recorded archives, including organizing, cataloging and labeling. Maintains studio schedule using WFUV’s online scheduling system, working out scheduling conflicts as they arise. On-call 24/7 for technical support. Helps maintain WFUV standards and uphold FCC rules and regulations. Other duties as needed

 

Qualifications: Bachelor degree or higher in relevant area of study, and a minimum of 3 years professional experience in broadcast operations and engineering or related areas.  Well-rounded knowledge of radio/audio equipment and technique. Experience with automation systems (AudioVAULT preferred). Experience with digital audio editing software (ProTools, SoundForge, Adobe Audition preferred).  Excellent working knowledge of computers and networking. Knowledge of and ability to verify compliance with FCC rules and regulations. Knowledge and currency on technological advances including radio broadcasting and workstation products, computer software and hardware, and media and entertainment technologies. Set up and perform remote broadcasts via various technologies including ISDN, IP, and wireless. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces such as rooftops, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components, and perform other physical tasks related to electronic and plant maintenance. Available to work various hours and days including some weekends, overnights, and holidays; on-call status 24/7 in case of emergency.  Ability to multitask in high-pressure situations. Attention to detail and follow-through. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to accept supervision. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Demonstrated interpersonal and team-building skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with the professional and student staff, with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, collaboration, professionalism, and discretion.
