Greetings all, as I noticed via online FB reports earlier this afternoon and also confirmed via several news article I’m sad to say one of our long time friends, legends, pioneers and all around industry buddies for many decades Eric Small has passed away.

You’re probably wishing or hoping that I’m mistaking but as I mentioned above it’s been reported via multiple sources …

It seems Eric was in Florida and walking out of a Publix grocery store as an elderly driver had a heart attack and hit him, both of them passing on.

I myself don’t have any further details other than what I readily found online.

Most of us know Eric even back from the early days of the 1970’s in SBE Chapter 15.

I believe he was CE of WOR-FM a while until he got into making his mark on FM audio processing, helping develop the Optimod, doing much FM processing consulting then creating Modulation Sciences Inc and running that for many decades. We were broadcast neighbors many years.

Our hearts are sad but thankful we were blessed by knowing Eric along our way on this spinning ball of Earth
