NWS does this once per year, as part of 'National Weather Awareness Week".  Usually it's in the middle of April, but I guess they were a bit late this year.  Also, I usually get an advance notice of this, but this year, nothing.

IANAL, but my understanding is that the NWS RMT does not need to be forwarded it, since NWS is not a mandatory monitoring source.  However, you will still need to forward next week's scheduled RMT, because that it the one that is coming from your mandatory monitoring sources.  Of course, I'm just an engineer, so if you have any doubts, your safest course of action would be to check with your station's counsel.

Hi, everyone-

Question:  Is the National Weather Service now issuing RMTs for NYC?

We fielded one today from them.  Does this now count as our RMT if we forwarded it?

I had very angry air talent, because this test seemed to come out of left field, was not expected, and did not match the published RMT schedule that I provided them.

I realize that these test should really be random to be effective, but Perfect Paul was not appreciated in the middle of their show!

Just curious if anyone else received this RMT from the NWS today…

Thanks!
