CBS News Radio Network is seeking a strong candidate to be part of our Network Technical Support team! This person has experience in Broadcast IT and IP systems, and will handle the support and maintenance of the Network’s broadcast studios, routers and transmission systems. It is essential that the candidate is proficient in IP based audio, Transmission and router systems.
This position is for on-site work 4-5 days a week, with the possibility of a work from home day once per week. It is based either in New York City or Washington DC. This hands-on role requires the ability to work directly with our technical equipment and to support the work of the production and editorial staff. This is a shift-based position where you will be required to work weekends and overnights, when scheduled.
Job duties & responsibilities
- Construction, assembly, wiring and installation of electronic equipment or components for use in its broadcasting operations
- Operation and Troubleshooting of technical equipment at the point of origin for CBS programs originating in the field
- Maintenance, configuration and repair of systems including, but not limited to, Sierra Automated Systems (SAS) consoles, intercoms and engines; Comrex Access, BRIC-Links, 2WCom IP-4c, and various other IP Transmission codecs.
- Configuration, design and care of multiple AoIP networks including Dante and Axia,
- Design and implement IP topologies and protocols for Network Transmission redundancy and reliability.
- Coordination with network and firewall teams to facilitate broadcast needs. Knowledge of TCP/IP Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols preferred.
- Automation Programming.
- Creation of documentation and planning for updates of newsroom facilities.
Qualifications:
- At least 4-5 years of applicable experience at a radio network, station or media organization or other similar experience.
- Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extremely organized and have strong IT expertise.
- Knowledge of Cisco switching/routing configuration and protocols a plus.
- Knowledge of Transmission protocols (WebRTC, WebSockets, RIST, RTP, etc.) and audio algorithms (MP2, MP3, AAC, Opus, etc.).
- Understand Automation systems and API’s.
- Motivated, self-starter who can work on their own with limited direction, and in a harmonious, team environment.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a constantly changing 24/7 news environment.
- Previous newsroom experience is beneficial.
- XDS or Satellite Downlink knowledge a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $110,219.72 – 122,337.28.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
